This course aims to:

By the end of this session we should understand the details of best practice through objective interviewing for selection and recruitment of new staff or current staff for new positions:

We will look at:

  • Avoiding first impression decisions and ensuring  that choices made are fair, objective and evidence based
  • Understanding the dimensions required to fill the role
  • Working confidently with a structured question bank
  • Laying out and preparing an interview room
  • Different question types ( open, closed, leading, hypothetical) and their value within the process
  • Employment Law within the selection process (briefly and appropriately!)
  • Recognised and structured approaches

               i. Competency based / behavioural

               ii. Biographical

               iii. Critical incidents

  • Extracting  all information and evidence from each candidate  to make an objective decision
    • Giving information re: the role and the school
    • Working on appropriate body language and  ‘Active Listening’ techniques

 

  • Taking accurate  notes for records and feedback

 

  • Ensuring positive candidate care
