By the end of this session we should understand the details of best practice through objective interviewing for selection and recruitment of new staff or current staff for new positions.

Description

Leaders of all levels with responsibility for interviewing and recruiting staff in independent schools.

We will look at:

  • Avoiding first impression decisions and ensuring that choices made are fair, objective and evidence based
  • Understanding the dimensions required to fill the role
  • Working confidently with a structured question bank
  • Laying out and preparing an interview room
  • Different question types (open, closed, leading, hypothetical) and their value within the process
  • Employment Law within the selection process (briefly and appropriately!)
  • Recognised and structured approaches
