This course is for:

Aspiring Heads of HMC and other independent schools.

Course outcomes:

  • Learn about headship and its opportunities and challenges
  • Understand your own development needs and career pathway in preparation for headship
  • Increase your awareness of the application, interview and recruitment process and what the governors are looking for during this process
  • Consider how to work effectively with the governing body once you are in post
  • Build your understanding of school finances, strategic development planning and how to market and develop your school
  • Acquire strategies for making an effective transition to headship
  • Develop insight into scenarios you are likely to face in headship, and how to approach them in practice
