Shaun will build on the webinar he delivered last academic year around Developing an inclusive school culture in relation to LGBT+ identities, led by Shaun Dellenty 

 

Dr Shaun Dellenty B’eEd, NPQH, (he/him) is a multi-award- winning educator/ advocate for LGBT+ inclusion in education who was widely reported as the first UK gay primary school leader to publicly ‘come out’ in the international press in 2009. Shaun wrote the acclaimed Bloomsbury book ‘Celebrating Difference- A Whole School Approach to LGBT+ Inclusion.’

Working in education since 1996 variously as class-teacher, school leader, school improvement advisor and initial teacher trainer, Shaun now works part time as a school-based equalities lead whilst continuing his global LGBT+ consultancy and advocacy. Since 2009, over 120,000 UK education professionals have experienced Shaun’s student talks and staff training in state and independent sectors in primary, secondary and faith schools, initial teacher training faculties and universities. Shaun is regular speaker at education, LGBT+ and anti-bullying conferences around the world. He has also been involved with a number of pan-European LGBT+ education projects.

Shaun has worked with teacher trade unions, the Church of England, Amnesty UK, The UK Houses of Parliament and numerous other charities, schools, community groups and businesses.

In 2016 Shaun was designated a ‘Point of Light’ for services to LGBT+ and education communities by the then UK Prime Minister and he was named one of the 100 most influential LGBT+ people in the UK. More recently he wrote a chapter for the forthcoming book from Diverse Educators ‘Manifesto.’
