Speaker Biography: Right Honourable Jim Murphy

The Right Honourable Jim Murphy is CEO and Founder of the London headquartered political consultancy and advocacy firm, Arden Strategies. Arden advises corporates and governments from across the world on political risk as well as providing insight to some of the world’s most inspiring CEOs. He is a former Cabinet Minister in the UK Government and has held multiple Ministerial portfolios whilst a Member of Parliament from 1997-2015. He served in both Tony Blair and Gordon Brown's governments in senior positions. He has held multiple ministerial roles including Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office where he was responsible for UK Public Diplomacy and soft-power globally. He also served as Minister for Technology, Minister at the Cabinet Office, Minister for Employment and Welfare and also as Secretary of State for Scotland. More recently he was Executive Director at the Tony Blair Institute advising more than twenty presidents across central and eastern Europe and sub-Saharan Africa. He has chaired a myriad of public and government bodies. He serves as a Trustee of the Foundation for Jewish Heritage and is on the Advisory Board of the Community Security Trust. Jim is a marathon runner, keen footballer, and mediocre golfer. He is also the author of the well-received 2014 book 'The ten football matches that changed the world and the one that didn't'.
